Hi, I’m Gichie, founding member and guitarist of The Cimarons, the UK’s first self-contained reggae band. We formed in the late 1960s after migrating from Jamaica and became one of the pioneering forces in bringing roots reggae to Britain. Over the years, we backed numerous artists and went on to release our own music, including albums like In Time, On the Rock, and Maka. Our story and influence were recently highlighted in the documentary Harder Than Rock, which explores the rise of reggae in the UK and the role we played in shaping that movement. I'm proud of what we've accomplished not just as musicians, but as cultural ambassadors bridging Jamaican roots and British sound.
