Caribbeans Connects founder & Actor Jermaine Young-Bushay, also known as Jermaine Young, visited City Splash Festival 2026 at Brockwell Park, Brixton, to interview attendees, document the atmosphere, and celebrate Caribbean culture in the heart of South London.
On Bank Holiday Monday, 25 May 2026, Jermaine Young-Bushay, founder of Caribbeans Connects, attended City Splash Festival 2026 at Brockwell Park, Brixton, to interview members of the public and document one of the UK’s most vibrant celebrations of Caribbean and Black culture.
City Splash brought together thousands of people for a day of music, food, heritage, and community, with Brixton once again standing proudly as a cultural meeting point for Caribbean people across London and beyond. For Jermaine, the event was a powerful reminder of the importance of representation, unity, and storytelling within the Caribbean community.
Speaking with festivalgoers throughout the day, Jermaine captured the voices, energy, and experiences of people who came together to celebrate Caribbean identity in all its forms. From the music and fashion to the food, dancing, and conversations, the atmosphere reflected the pride and togetherness that continue to make Brixton such an important place for Caribbean culture.
This year’s City Splash lineup featured a strong mix of reggae, dancehall, afrobeats, soca, UK sounds, and sound system culture, with artists including Beres Hammond, Gyptian, Jada Kingdom, Queen Ifrica, Aidonia, Elephant Man, The Congos, Lutan Fyah, Juls, and more performing across the festival.
Jermaine said he was delighted to see the Caribbean community come together in the local area of Brixton — the heartbeat of the Caribbean community — and to have the opportunity to document the people, the culture, and the positive energy of the day.
Through Caribbeans Connects, Jermaine continues to highlight Caribbean stories, events, businesses, and voices, creating a platform that celebrates the community both locally and internationally. You can view the video here: https://youtu.be/7dZ3U4avWqY
